Hard Pass: New Formula, Diluted, Chemical Scent
I’ve been using this product for well over 12 years. Needless to say a super user. However this new formula and new name from “Energizing” to “Invigorating” (which isn’t even listed on the product page) is a HUGE disappointment. It’s been diluted so much you need to use twice the amount from before and it doesn’t foam anymore due to no viscosity. The scent is different with a chemical like awful smell. I am all for innovation/improvement on products to improve, but this is a miss, Kiehl’s. Especially as you continue to hike your prices. In seeing the other reviews I am glad to see it’s not just me that thought this. Please bring back the old formula. Don’t become a “New Coke” moment here.

New Formula Is a Mistake
Been using this for like 5 years now. This new formula is nothing like the original. Before, 1 single pump would be enough to wash your face and make you feel fresh. Now, it takes at least 2 or even 3 pumps to get the job done. It doesn't glide over your skin like the previous version. It doesn't lather well and has a strange smell compared to the original. Why change the smell? I wish I would have looked at the reviews beforehand. I thought I was going crazy at first thinking I must have gotten a bad batch. Clearly, they changed the recipe. Won't be buying this product again. It's not worth the money. I guess if you have to use more product, you'll have to buy it more frequently in their eyes. Bad change.

New Formula is a Major Disappointment
I have used this product for years. I recently bought a new bottle not knowing the formula had changed. It was blatantly obvious on first use. This new product is paler in color, much less concentrated, has a different (and off putting) scent and lacks the “tingle” of the old and much beloved product. I just can’t imagine why you would change something so popular except to bow to the will of your accountants to squeeze out some more profit. There is absolutely nothing about this new product that is an improvement. So disappointed, both in the product and in your company as a whole. After using it for years I won’t be buying again unless the old formula returns.

Never Switching Again
After using Facial Fuel Energizing Facial Wash for 15 years, I decided to try a different brand. That was a serious mistake! Went thru 3 brands... the cheapest is readily available & was ok; the next caused immediate breakouts; the last was a real dog that didn’t rinse well & made my skin very dry. Tried to use the cheap one to clear up the issues the others caused, it helped a little, definitely didn’t clear it up.
So, I’m back to Kiehls Facial Fuel line & am staying. Yeah, it’s expensive, but you don’t have to use nearly as much as the others I tried. That & the fact that it works without the
breakouts or over drying is worth the extra money.

Love the invigorating wash, hate the sulfates
I love the invigorating feeling this face wash provides, wakes you up in the morning. I love the foam action and thorough clean it provides. Can’t keep using it though, not down with all of the sulfates, artificial fragrance, and ARTIFICIAL COLOR, WHY OH WHY?! Not good for the consumer and not good for the environment. This cleanser could easily be reformulated to exclude these terrible ingredients and would still provide the exact experience and results. Hopefully more consumers speak up and Kiehls will either reformulate or make an “organic” or “clean formula” version as an alternative. 2 stars for the caffeine, menthol, foaminess and results.

WHY change one of your best selling products....?
Why...WHY change one of your best selling products (and category) at all?
If it's to save money, I don't see a decrease in the price, only the quality.
After using (and buying) this product for more than 15 years - unfortunately, will be looking elsewhere for all skin care, as I can imagine this will continue with other products.
It's very unfortunate, as it was a wonderful product. Now, as other reviewers have said - chemical smell, and leaves residue. The previous product smelled amazing, washed away clean, and left your face feeling wonderful.
A least announce/identify in the product description that it has been changed...perhaps people may think twice before buying, unless that is the point.

No longer a Superior Product, Caution Buyers!
Kiehl's changed the Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash and it is no longer a superior product. The color is a yellowish brown, it is a much thinner consistency requiring significantly more product and the product has lost its pleasant menthol smell, it now smells more like chemicals. After nearly 18 years of consistently using this product, I will now need to find another brand. So extremely disappointing, clearly the company is putting profits over quality. Kiehl's, read these reviews, you are losing customers, I highly recommend you revert to the previous proven and loved formula right away!

They changed the formula on us!
Unfortunately, Kiehl's has changed the formula of our beloved Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash. It is now "invigorating" instead of "energizing" (although they won't tell you that online). The new formula is almost certainly cheaper; it requires more to spread around your face. Before, I needed one pump of face wash, now I need two. This formula smells like citrusy disinfectant. I have paid a lot for this face wash in the past because of the way it makes me feel, I no longer feel anything with the new formula. It is beyond disappointing, and after a decade of using this product, I'll be purchasing a cheaper, more effective face wash from a competitor from now on.
